Framing Print E-mail

bal

All framing is done on the premises by experienced framers. Our normal turnaround time is one week, but next day, same day or even while-you-wait is usually possible, depending on complexity.

Framing, to us, is not only about presentation, but also preservation - standard framing materials and ‘out-of-sight-out-of-mind’ practices can actually speed up the framed item’s demise. Everything we do is reversible and everything that comes into contact with artwork is archival.

Making frames is one thing, having an eye for colour and selecting the perfect choice, is another. We have a reputation for getting it right, so that the first thing you see is NOT our frame, but your picture!

Choose from over 1000 mouldings, from period to the latest contemporary designs, 60% of these mouldings are usually in stock.

The mount board that we use as standard is not only preservation quality but incorporates high technology that actually traps airborne pollutants and turns them into harmless salts; choose from around 300 colours and textures.

We also offer and stock many types of glass and acrylic including glass with an Ultra Violet filter that helps prevent fading and a type of glass that is anti-reflective and clear – not to be confused with non-reflective glass – this ‘museum’ glass is invisible in normal lighting conditions.

Concorde Compressor Blade with 'museum' glass -

does not continue on to the glass.

Selling needlework means that we get far more than our fair share of it for framing and selling haberdashery means that we are spoilt for choice for the correct materials to prepare it for framing. Most needlework is laced, with crotchet cotton over an acid-free support. We NEVER use any form of adhesive, staples or other ‘quick fix’ methods.

Box framing
of three-dimensional objects is another area in which we excel, and have framed fossils, icing, medals, cricket bats, fireman’s axes, crystal, and wedding bouquets, even items like this are usually completed within our normal turnaround time. We like a challenge! Please use the ‘contact us’ page if you have a query.

This is a 'Sliip-over' frame - a lined shelf unit is securely fastened to the wall and the outer frame, which conceals that unit completely, simply, as the name suggests, slides snugly over it, allowing removal for use or for change of display of contents - in this case a collection of Limogés Porcelain trinket boxes.

READY-MADE FRAMES

If you do not have time for a frame to order or want a cheaper alternative, we have an exclusive range of ready-made frames, made on the premises including some made of natural wood, hand finished on the premises, incorporating our high-quality mounts and the same quality backing. Some even have UV filtering glass.
